Davis Ink

Who is Davis Ink?

Southern California interior designer, Davis Krumins, and his wife and partner, and Andrea Krumins, are the design duo behind Davis Ink. As the creative entity behind the interior design of some of southern California’s most unique hospitality and nightclub venues including Nightclub and Bar Design Awards ‘Best Nightclub International’ “Colour” award winner, Parq in San Diego and the modern rooftop destination, Rustic Root, in San Diego, Davis Ink designs each of its venues to be comfortable, usable and most importantly, memorable.

Davis Krumins began his career as an artist and furniture designer. Fascinated by progressive and modern architecture, he went on to earn his master’s degree in architecture from California Polytechnic University. After working for eight years at a to restaurant design firm in Los Angeles, Davis went on to form Davis Ink Ltd. In 2002. The Krumins work hand in hand with clients to fulfill their ultimate goal of turning creative vision into physical reality.

My style in three words:

Eclectic, unpredictable, experimental

Design tip:

Have fun. Be open minded and always focus on producing a positive experience

Dream project:

A space beneath the ocean surface, a space inside a rock wall or a space built in the canopy of a forest. Very modern and James Bondesque.

I knew I wanted to be a designer when…

When I was a kid. Instead of playing sports with the other kids, I was building things in the sandbox. When I was in middle school, my favorite class was woodshop. I always enjoyed art, fashion, architecture and anything having to do with design. It was an easy choice for me.

“I always enjoyed art, fashion, architecture and anything having to do with design”

Design element I’m obsessed with:  I’ve always been obsessed with modernism. In particular, I enjoy midcentury design. I enjoy driving through random neighborhoods in Palm Springs discovering incredible architectural details. In addition, I’ve collected ashtrays, lamps, vases and furniture from this time era.

Favorite project so far:

This is an easy question. My favorite project is whatever we are working on at that particular moment. I find that each project is beautiful in its own way. In general, we select jobs where clients are passionate and have a vision. We feed off of the energy.

Color Crush:

Black, white, silver and gold with pops of dramatic color. My color choice at this moment would be pink.
